Ed grew up in California and relocated to South Carolina with his family in the 60's. His father was a builder and Ed spent his summers working with his dad. He learned a great deal about the building trades. His passion however was surfing and he learned to surf in South Carolina in the 60's. He traveled the world in quest of perfect waves and surfed competitively for 10 years. He designed, built surfboards and operated his own surf shops. He also built and repaired boats and waterslides. He later built restaurants, nightclubs and contracted fine interiors all over the South.
Ed was the marina operator in the early 70's at famous Harbortown Yacht Basin on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He ran the marina, the marina store and cared for the needs of the boat owners, visitors and guests. Sea Pines was an international resort where he gained a great deal of experience interacting and dealing with people. One day he met a young woman on the Island who described Telluride to him. It was so unique, he had to see it for himself. He made his way to Telluride in 1980 and is there today.
Ed landed a job building a fine resin coated bartop in a new restaurant. While working on the project, he was recruited by the owners to try his hand at real estate. They believed he would be good at this unique type of work and felt his building skills and his ability to communicate with people would be an asset. He tried his hand at it and believes it was one of the wisest decisions he ever made. Ed has shared Telluride with countless others ever since.
